Co-op, internships and a real first job
Canadian work-integrated learning is a genuine hiring pipeline here, not free labour. A well run co-op term is the shortest honest route to a permanent seat and a career path.
Why co-op matters in the Canadian market
Canadian post-secondary co-op is one of the best structured work-integrated learning systems anywhere. Employers get to know a student over a full term, and students get real experience and a reference that means something. For an employer that promotes from within, it is close to ideal: a co-op term is a long, paid, two way interview.
We treat it that way. Co-op students and interns do real, measured work with the same paid training as any new hire, not filing and coffee runs. That is the only version of co-op that actually leads anywhere, and it is the only version we run.
There is a practical reason we invest in students rather than use them as cheap cover. A student who does well is someone we already know and have already trained, which makes them the lowest-risk permanent hire we can make. Getting to know people over a full term, on real work, is exactly how a promote-from-within company should build its bench, and co-op gives us that.
Where students and graduates fit
Customer experience co-op
Live contact and case work on a real account with paid training, the clearest route into the operational career ladder.
AI delivery internships
Data annotation and evaluation work, often remote, with a strong pull for bilingual students given Canadian French premium programmes.
IT delivery placements
Service desk, support and junior technical work in delivery pods for students on a technical track.
Graduate entry
New graduates join the same entry roles as any hire and move up on the same promote-from-within path, often faster with a relevant degree.
From a term to a permanent seat
The point of a term with us is the permanent offer at the end of it. A student who does the work well, takes coaching and shows up reliably is exactly who we want to keep, because we already know they can do the job and we have already trained them. Where headcount allows, a strong co-op or internship is the shortest route to a standing offer.
Bilingual students have a particular advantage. The same scarcity that helps any bilingual candidate helps a bilingual student more, because you are rare and early. A co-op term that proves your French on a real account puts you in front of roles a graduate without it cannot reach.
What we look for in a student
We do not expect a student to arrive knowing the work. We expect reliability, curiosity and a willingness to be coached, the same things we look for in any hire, because those are the traits the training can build on. Show up, take feedback, care about the customer and be honest about your numbers, and you will do well regardless of your program or your year.
A degree in progress is not a barrier and it is not a requirement either. Business, communications, computer science, languages and liberal arts students all find a fit, because the roles reward how you think and how you treat people more than a specific field. If you are bilingual, that is the single strongest thing you can bring, whatever you are studying.
A term that builds more than a resume line
A good placement leaves you with three things beyond the pay. Real experience you can speak to in any future interview, because you did measured work on a live account rather than shadowed from the sidelines. A reference from a leader who actually saw you work. And a professional network inside a company that operates in more than eighteen countries. For a student, those compound long after the term ends.
How to apply as a student
Watch the jobs board for roles marked co-op, internship or graduate, and apply the way any candidate does. If your school runs a co-op portal we may post there too. If nothing fits your term dates yet, join the talent community so we can reach you when a placement opens that matches your program and your languages.
Apply early rather than late. Co-op and internship intakes are tied to academic terms, so the roles cluster around predictable dates and fill as those dates approach. If you are in a co-op program, line your application up with your work-term window and tell us your availability clearly. A student who is organized about timing is already showing us something we value.
