Code of ethics
The ethical principles that guide how Corpshore Canada does business with clients, candidates, colleagues and communities.
Last updated:
This document is drafted to a professional Canadian standard. It should be reviewed by the organisation's own counsel before it is relied upon, and it does not constitute legal advice.
1. Purpose
This code of ethics states the principles that guide how Corpshore Canada, the Canadian operation of Corpshore Solutions Corporation, does business. It applies to how we treat our clients, our candidates and employees, our suppliers, and the communities in which we operate. It sets the standard we hold ourselves to, and it supports the more detailed policies in our legal cluster.
1a. Who this code applies to
This code applies to everyone who acts for Corpshore Canada, the Canadian operation of Corpshore Solutions Corporation, including our leaders, employees and contractors, and we expect the organisations we work with to share its spirit. It sits alongside the law and our other policies. Where the law sets a higher standard than this code, the law applies; where this code sets a higher standard than the law requires, we hold ourselves to this code.
2. Integrity and honesty
We are honest in what we say and do. We describe our services, our capabilities and our results accurately, and we do not make claims we cannot support. Where we publish rankings, statistics or savings figures, we state them as they are, with their date and source, and we do not exaggerate them. We keep our promises, and where we cannot, we say so and put it right.
3. Fair dealing and competition
We compete on the merit of our services. We comply with competition law, including the Competition Act, and we do not make false or misleading representations about our services or those of others. When we publish performance claims, savings ranges or rankings, we ensure they are accurate, adequately substantiated and not misleading in their general impression, we state the date and source, and we do not cherry-pick or exaggerate. We do not engage in bid-rigging, price-fixing or other anti-competitive conduct, and we gather information about competitors only through lawful and ethical means.
4. Respect for people
We treat everyone with dignity and respect. We are committed to a workplace and a recruitment process free of discrimination and harassment, consistent with human-rights and employment law across the provinces in which we operate. We value the diversity of our people and the two official languages of Canada, and we provide accommodation to the point of undue hardship for those who need it.
5. Privacy and confidentiality
We respect the privacy of the people whose personal information we hold, and we protect the confidential information of our clients, our candidates and our colleagues. We collect and use personal information only for identified purposes and in accordance with our privacy policy, and we do not misuse confidential information for personal gain.
6. Anti-corruption
We do not offer, give, solicit or accept bribes or improper advantages. We comply with anti-corruption laws, including the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act. Gifts and hospitality must be modest, transparent and never given or received to influence a decision improperly. Where a conflict of interest arises, we disclose it and manage it openly.
7. Health, safety and wellbeing
We care about the health, safety and wellbeing of our people. We comply with occupational-health-and-safety law and we work to provide a safe and supportive environment, whether our people work on site or remotely.
8. Responsible use of resources and technology
We use company and client resources responsibly and for their intended purpose. We use technology, including any artificial-intelligence tools we deploy, in a way that is lawful, fair and transparent, and that keeps human judgement in decisions that affect people.
8a. Artificial intelligence and responsible technology
Where we build or deploy artificial-intelligence tools, whether for clients or in our own operations, we do so responsibly. We keep a person accountable for decisions that affect people, we do not use these tools to make solely-automated decisions with a legal or similarly significant effect on an individual without disclosure and a route to human review, we work to identify and reduce unfair bias, and we respect privacy and confidentiality in the data these tools use. We are transparent with clients about how a tool works to the extent needed for them to use it responsibly.
9. Community and environment
We aim to be a responsible member of the communities in which we operate, and to consider the environmental and social effects of how we work. We support ethical and responsible practice through our supply chain, as set out in our modern slavery and supply chain statement. We contribute to the communities and economies we work in, and we try to reduce the environmental impact of our operations over time.
10. Speaking up
We encourage anyone who has a concern about conduct that may breach this code or the law to raise it. Our whistleblowing policy explains how to do so and confirms that we do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith.
10a. Conflicts of interest
We make decisions in the best interests of our clients and our organisation, not for personal benefit. Where a personal, financial or other interest could influence, or appear to influence, a decision we make in our role, we disclose it and step back from the decision where needed. We do not use our position, or information we obtain through it, for improper personal gain.
10b. Accurate records
We keep honest and accurate business records, and we do not falsify records or misrepresent facts. Accurate records support good decisions, meet our legal and tax obligations, and let us demonstrate that we act with integrity. Everyone who creates or maintains a record is responsible for its accuracy.
11. Governance and review
Our leadership is responsible for upholding this code and for setting the tone. We expect everyone who acts for us to know and follow it, and we support them in raising questions and concerns without fear. We review this code from time to time and update it as our business and the law evolve. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
